Sierra National Forest surrounds the engineering feat of the Mammoth Pool Dam, which impounds the Mammoth Pool Reservoir along the San Joaquin River drainage. This high-elevation landscape in Fresno and Madera counties is defined by a dense network of forest service spurs and specialized routes, including the Stump Springs Road and the Minarets Rd. The topography is marked by several alpine meadows such as Logan Meadow, Fuller Meadow, and Aspen Meadow, which provide breaks in the timbered slopes.
