Castle Hill, Mapleton, and Chapman form a triad of rural communities in this Aroostook County landscape, where the agricultural flats are punctuated by prominent peaks. To the west, the distinctive profile of Haystack Mtn and Pyle Mtn rise above the surrounding potato country, while McDonald Mtn overlooks the Aroostook River in the northwest corner. The drainage of the North Branch Presque Isle Stream and its tributaries, such as Dudley Brook and Libby Brook, dictate the placement of local roads and farmsteads.
