West Arm Grand Traverse Bay dominates this coastal landscape, where the narrow fingers of the Old Mission Peninsula reach into the deep waters of Lake Michigan. The settlement of Mapleton serves as a central hub on the eastern side of the quadrangle, connected by roads such as Peninsula Dr and Seven Hills Rd. This 2011 survey reveals a landscape shaped by its maritime geography, from the sheltered waters of Bowers Harbor and its associated Bowers Harbor Marina to the sharp protrusions of Neah-Ta-Wanta Point and Tucker Point. Local history is anchored by the presence of Bowers Harbor Cemetery and Ogdensburg Cemetery, which sit alongside established transit routes like Rue De Vin. On the opposite shore across the bay, the coastline is defined by Suttons Bay and several named landforms including Stony Point and Lee Point.
