Valley River drainage patterns define this corridor of Cherokee County, where the communities of Marble, Tomotla, and Maltby follow the natural lowlands. The 2013 survey illustrates a landscape deeply etched by its hydrologic history, with numerous branches and creeks like Vengeance Cr, Sassafras Cr, and Little Snowbird Cr feeding into the main river valley. This network of water supported early settlements and later road developments, such as Tomotla Rd and Maltby Rd, which link the various coves and knobs.
