Mares Egg Spring lies at the intersection of a complex hydrologic network and protected wilderness in the Wood River Valley. This 2023 survey illustrates the extensive water management systems that define the region, including the Sevenmile Ditch, Blue Springs Ditch, and Central Canal, which crisscross the lowlands east of the Sky Lakes Wilderness. The landscape transitions from the high elevations at Klamath Point down to the marshy expanse of the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge.
