About this map

Ashley National Forest surrounds the high elevations of Marsh Peak in this recent survey of northeastern Utah's Uinta Mountains. The landscape is defined by its high-altitude glacial basins and complex drainage networks, including the headwaters of the South Fork Ashley Creek and the North Fork Dry Fork. The terrain transitions from the alpine lakes of the Lakeshore Basin and Hopper Lakes in the north to the open meadow complexes of Macks Park, Big Park, and Horseshoe Park further south. These parks, characteristic of the Uinta range, provide critical grazing and movement corridors through the dense forest. Recreational access is traced through a system of backcountry routes such as the Marsh Peak-Dry Fork Trl and the Red Cloud Loop Rd, which winds through Brownie Canyon. Geologic features like Sink Ridge and Chimney Rock Lake highlight the rugged topography of this Uintah County wilderness.
