Matheny Ridge and the surrounding high peaks of the Olympic Mountains dominate this 2014 survey of the wilderness along the Jefferson and Grays Harbor County line. The landscape is defined by its complex drainage network, where the headwaters of the Sams River flow north toward Olympic National Park, while the N Fork Salmon River and Middle Fork Salmon River cut through the southern reaches of the Olympic National Forest.
