McAllaster anchors the southeastern corner of this High Plains landscape, situated along a primary transportation corridor in Logan County. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the North Fork Smoky Hill River, which cuts across the northern and eastern sections of the quadrangle. This drainage network is supported by several intermittent tributaries, including Turkey Creek, Sand Creek, and Lake Creek, illustrating the natural water management of the Kansas prairie.
