1959 Map of Wallace

USGS Topo · Published 1960

About this map

Sharon Springs and the historic town of Wallace anchor this high plains landscape at the end of the 1950s, following the path of the Union Pacific railroad across Wallace County. The terrain is defined by the winding course of the Smoky Hill River and its numerous tributaries, including Eagletail Creek, Pond Creek, and Rose Creek. These waterways have carved significant relief into the Kansas prairie, creating the Red Hills, Motti Hill, and the prominent Bluffs that overlook Homestead Canyon.
