2021 Map of McCutchen Spring

USGS Topo · Published 2021

About this map

The high-desert terrain of the Quinn Canyon Range dominates this portion of the Humboldt National Forest, where the landscape transitions from steep mountain slopes into the broad expanse of Sand Spring Valley. Water sources are the defining landmarks in this arid environment, with several perennial and seasonal points such as McCutchen Spring, Upper McCutchen Spring, and Cedar Spring providing critical locations for livestock and wildlife. These springs are connected by a sparse network of mountain tracks, including McCutchen Rd and McCutchen Springs Rd. To the north, the headwaters of Davis Cr descend through narrow canyons, while Wild Horse Spring marks a remote outpost in the southeastern corner of the quadrangle. The map captures a landscape defined by the Public Land Survey System, showing the intersections of numerous townships and ranges including t1n r56e and t2n r55e.
