The Metolius River cuts through the southwestern corner of this landscape, marking a sharp boundary for the Deschutes National Forest in Jefferson County. This high plateau is defined by its extensive benchlands and the deep incisions of the Seekseequa Cr drainage system. The terrain transitions from the broad expanse of Tenino Bench in the northeast down toward the protected canyon lands.
