Mexican Hill and the surrounding high country of northern Wyoming are defined by a complex drainage network that flows through the Bighorn National Forest. This 2012 survey highlights the convergence of several major creek systems, including the namesake Bucking Mule Cr and its dramatic Bucking Mule Falls. The landscape is etched by various coulees and basins, such as Hannans Coulee and the wide Cookstove Basin, reflecting the natural erosion of the plateau.
