About this map

Hitson Draw and Mickey Draw define this arid landscape in the Hudspeth County portion of the Trans-Pecos region, captured in the early 1980s. The drainage patterns on this sheet illustrate the remote, high-desert character of Far West Texas, where water management is signaled by scattered Well and Tanks labels. Despite the isolation, evidence of human infrastructure appears in the form of a Landing Strip and a Gravel Pit located in the southern half of the quadrangle. These features, along with the network of unimproved roads and bench marks, highlight the industrial and survey efforts required to navigate and utilize this sparsely populated terrain during the late twentieth century.
