The coastal marshlands and open waters of Hyde County define this maritime landscape along the Pamlico Sound. Concentrated in the northwest corner, the terrain transitions from the wetland grasses near Sanger Cr and Middle Creek into the wide expanse of Sage Bay. A single terrestrial artery, State RD 1141, provides access to this isolated shoreline, where North Bluff Point and Juniper Creek Point reach into the sound. The map serves as a detailed record of the shifting hydrography of the Outer Banks region, marking submerged hazards like Sevenfoot Patch and the shallow waters of Hog Island Shoal surrounding Hog Island. These named points and shoals remain critical landmarks for local navigation and coastal history in an area dominated by the interface of tide and land.
