The Green River carves a deep path through this section of Grand County, defining the eastern edge of the Green Wild and Scenic River corridor. Along its banks, the low-lying Cottonwood Bottom and Mineral Bottom offer rare accessible terrain beneath the towering cliffs of Labyrinth Canyon. The landscape is dominated by high plateaus like Deadman Point and Mineral Point, which are dissected by a complex network of drainages including Hell Roaring Canyon and the North Fork and South Fork Mineral Canyon.
