The Pilot Range defines the western half of this landscape, where the high peaks drop sharply into the vast Pilot Creek Valley. This is a land of extreme contrasts, transitioning from the elevation of Miners Canyon and the prominent Window Rock landmark down to the edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert in the east. Scattered water sources like Miners Spring and Salt Spring have long served as vital stops in an otherwise arid basin.
