Minturn and the surrounding rural landscape of Dillon County are defined by a complex network of waterways and wetlands along the state line. The Little Pee Dee River meanders across the upper half of the territory, joined by tributaries such as Reedy Branch and Leith Creek. A significant portion of the southern area is dominated by the sprawling Sweat Swamp and the unique circular depression of Donohoe Bay, illustrating the characteristic Carolina Bay topography of the coastal plain.
