Mosquito Park marks the southern entry point to this high-elevation landscape in Fremont County, where the hydrological system of the Wind River Range is meticulously documented. The terrain is defined by dramatic peaks such as Mount Popo Agie and Mount Cross, which serve as the headwaters for numerous drainage systems including Trout Cr and Moccasin Cr. A dense network of alpine water bodies, from Little Moccasin Lake and Shoe Lake to the larger Washakie Reservoir, illustrates the complex water management and natural storage of the region. Transportation in this wilderness area is restricted to primary corridors like Moccasin Lake Rd and Washakie Park Rd, alongside specialized routes like the Blue Trl. These paths provide the only overland access between the diverse creek systems and the isolated Blue Spring at the edge of the range.
