Mōkapu Peninsula dominates the northern reaches of this coastal survey, defined by the extensive operations of the Kāne‘ohe Bay Marine Corps Airfield. The landscape here is a complex mix of military infrastructure and natural coastal features, including the striking Ulupa‘u Crater and several significant fishponds like Nu‘upia Pond and Halekou Pond. To the south, the suburban expansion of O'ahu is evident in the residential grids of Lanikai and Kailua Beach.
