Monte Mountain dominates the southeastern terrain of this Nevada high-desert landscape, anchored by the Timpahute Range and the geological prominence of Chocolate Drop in the southwest corner. The survival of this arid region is historically tied to its scattered water sources, which are carefully mapped here as The Seeps and a sequence of essential springs including Penoyer Springs, Tunnel Spring, and Wild Horse Spring.
