Blue Mountain Ridge overlooks the high-elevation canyonlands of San Juan County, where the northern reaches of Monticello meet the eastern boundary of the Manti La Sal National Forest. The landscape is defined by a transition from the structured residential grid of the town, centered on N Main St, to the complex drainage networks of Peters Canyon and Bridge Canyon. Water management is central to the area's development, evidenced by the Gordon Reservoir and Keller Reservoir, which sit among the expansive grazing lands of Hickman Flat.
