Montour sits at the northern end of this central Iowa landscape, positioned where the meandering Iowa River meets the confluence of Indian Cr. The settlement's grid is anchored by Main St and Broad St, reflecting a traditional Midwestern rail-and-road orientation along the historic E Lincoln Hwy. South of town, the terrain is defined by a dense network of drainage systems, including the winding paths of Raven Cr and Bennett Cr, which carve through the agricultural blocks of Tama County.
