The high Sierra Nevada crest dominates this topographical study, defined by the jagged boundary where the Inyo National Forest meets the Sierra National Forest. Centered on the massive peak of Mt Abbot, the landscape is a complex of glacial cirques and high-altitude basins. The drainage systems of Mono Cr and Hopkins Cr carve through the granite, connecting a high-density network of alpine water bodies including Upper Hopkins Lakes, Ruby Lake, and the expansive Pioneer Basin.
