Kings Canyon National Park and Inyo National Forest meet along the high Sierra Nevada crest in this detailed 2015 study. The landscape is defined by massive granite peaks and deep glacial basins, centered on the spire of Mt Clarence King and the surrounding Gardiner Basin. The legendary Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail winds through the eastern portion of the map, crossing over Glen Pass and passing the high-altitude Rae Lakes.
