Stephen Mather Wilderness and the Glacier Peak Wilderness meet in this high-elevation corridor of the North Cascades. The terrain is defined by massive ridges and peaks, including Mount Lyall and the prominent Devore Peak, which tower over a network of glacial drainages. In the northeast corner, the Stehekin River follows the path of the Stehekin Valley Road, providing a vital narrow corridor of access into the heart of the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area.
