The Genesee River snakes through the heart of this region, its dramatic bends and high banks defining the geography within Letchworth State Park. The river valley acts as a natural corridor, joined by the Silver Lake Outlet and Allens Cr as it flows toward Mount Morris Lake. This area of the Genesee Valley exhibits a clear division between the high, dissected landscape of the Tuscarora Plateau and the fertile agricultural uplands surrounding the village of Perry.
