Deerlodge National Forest covers this high-altitude landscape on the boundary of Powell and Deer Lodge counties. The terrain is defined by massive peaks and glacial features, notably the towering Mt Powell and nearby Deer Lodge Mtn. Water flows from alpine basins like The Crater into a network of high-elevation lakes, including Upper Elliot Lake and Lower Elliot Lake.
