Mt Riley and the adjacent Cox Peak dominate the center of this 2020 landscape in southern New Mexico. This volcanic terrain is part of the extensive West Potrillo Mountains, while the East Potrillo Mountains emerge on the southeastern edge of the sheet. The arid environment is defined by a network of essential water catchment features such as Davids Tank, Rattlesnake Tank, and Gap Tank, which are critical for supporting ranching or local wildlife in this dry desert basin.
