Soldier Meadows Hot Springs serves as a thermal focal point in this high-desert landscape where water dictates the geography of human and animal activity. The topography is defined by significant elevation changes, ranging from the depths of Fly Canyon and Box Canyon to the prominent heights of Black Mtn. In the eastern portion of the sheet, Copper Canyon cuts into the rising terrain, while the southern reaches descend toward the expansive alkaline flats of the Black Rock Desert.
