Mud Springs and Pecan Springs anchor this portion of Kinney County, where the desert landscape is defined by the ephemeral drainage systems of the Edwards Plateau. The hydrology is dominated by the winding paths of Perdido Cr and its tributary, Little Perdido Cr, which carve through the terrain alongside W Pinto Cr in the eastern reach of the quadrangle. These water sources have long been vital markers in this arid region of Southwest Texas.
