The Indio Hills dominate the northern landscape of this Riverside County region, where geological faulting has created a series of desert oases along the base of the uplift. These natural groves, including Thousand Palms Oasis, Willis Palms, and McCallum Grove, stand in sharp contrast to the surrounding arid terrain. To the south, the Coachella Valley transitions into an increasingly developed agricultural and residential corridor.
