Pryor Mountains geography dominates this section of the Montana-Wyoming border, where the land falls away into the dramatic depths of Bighorn Canyon and Devil Canyon. This 2020 survey documents a transition from the protected woodlands of the Custer National Forest to the managed landscapes of the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area. High ridgelines like Tillet Ridge and Burnt Timber-Tillet Ridge provide the backbone for backcountry access via routes such as the Burnt Timber-Tillet Ridge RD 14.
