Naples sits at the northern edge of this landscape, where Naples Creek and Tannery Creek converge near the Fairground and the High Tor Game Management Area. The settlement pattern follows the narrow valleys carved between prominent heights like Hatch Hill, Pine Hill, and Lent Hill. In the southern half of the quadrangle, the Cohocton River valley serves as a primary corridor for transportation, carrying the Delaware Lackawanna and Western railroad through the village of Atlanta and into Cohocton.

Genealogists will find a wealth of local landmarks, including numerous rural burial grounds such as Rose Ridge Cem, Wheaton Cem, and Lyon Hollow Cem. The prevalence of numbered district schools, from School No 2 near North Cohocton to School No 13 in the south, indicates a distributed farming community during the early 1940s. Natural resource extraction is evidenced by Gas Wells located northeast of the Naples village center.
