Kaiparowits Plateau and its dramatic southern termination at the Straight Cliffs dominate this high-desert landscape in Kane County. The terrain is characterized by a series of prominent benches and ridgelines, including Navajo Bench and Bull Ridge, which overlook the deeply incised drainages of the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. The influence of early ranching and local lore is evident in names like Teddys Horse Pasture and Harveys Fear Cliff. To the south, the landscape falls away toward Lake Powell, with several named canyons such as Driftwood Canyon and Cascade Canyon cutting through the sandstone towards the water's edge. Distinctive geological markers like Balanced Rock and Billie Flat Top provide essential landmarks for navigation across the high-relief benches of Navajo Point.
