Navarre and its neighboring coastal communities sit at a critical intersection of military reservation and recreational shoreline along the Florida Panhandle. The landscape is defined by the proximity of Eglin Air Force Base, which occupies much of the northern interior, and the protected lands of the Gulf Islands National Seashore along Santa Rosa Island. Transport and commerce are tied to the water, with the Intracoastal Waterway running through the Santa Rosa Sound, separating the mainland residential developments of Wynnehaven Beach and the historic settlement of Holley from the Gulf of Mexico.
