Ned Houk Memorial Park anchors the southern portion of this High Plains landscape north of Clovis, where the local topography is defined by the ephemeral drainage of Running Water Draw. This area of Curry County exhibits a rigid grid of agricultural roads, including Curry Road 25 and Humphrey Rd, which service the broad stretches of farmland that dominate the region.
