1966 Map of Newcomb

USGS Topo · Published 1970

About this map

The Newcomb settlement serves as a central point of activity within the high desert landscape of the Navajo Indian Reservation during the mid-1960s. Located along the primary north-south corridor of Route 666, the community is defined by its relationship to the surrounding drainage systems, most notably Captain Tom Wash and the Captain Tom Reservoir. The terrain transitions from the prominent heights of Grey Mesa in the south to a complex network of ephemeral waterways including Peña Blanca Arroyo and Tse-nas-chii Wash.
