Wallenpaupack Creek and its many tributaries, including West Branch Wallenpaupack Creek and East Branch, define the hydrology of this Pocono Mountains borderland between Wayne and Pike counties. The northern portion is dominated by the sprawling Lake Wallenpaupack, featuring Cairns Island and the lakeside settlement of Ledgedale. Moving south, the landscape is dotted with several small villages and crossroad communities such as Newfoundland, Greentown, and South Sterling. These settlements are linked by State Routes 191, 507, and 447, which follow the natural valleys carved by the creeks. Local history is anchored by sites like Zion Cem and Pine Grove Cem, alongside remnants of early industry at Haags Mill. Smaller water bodies like Lake Russell, Panther Lake, and Siebecker Pond are tucked between ridges like Kuhn Hill, illustrating the transition from open water to upland forest and scattered residential pockets.
