The Saint Regis River winds through this Northern New York landscape, anchoring the historic hamlets of Nicholville, Hopkinton, and Fort Jackson. These settlements are situated at the northern edge of the Adirondack Park Preserve, where the river and its many tributaries, including Miller Brook and Hopkinton Brook, defined the early transit and milling patterns of Saint Lawrence County. Local history is well-preserved through numerous family and community sites, such as Chesterfield Cem and the Fort Jackson Hopkinton Cem near the riverbanks.
