Nimrod Dam controls the flow of the Fourche LaFave River, creating the expansive waters of Nimrod Lake where the river enters The Narrows. The landscape is defined by the sharp ridges of the Ouachita Mountains, including Ola Mtn to the north and Fourche Mtn to the west. This territory, much of which is protected within the Ouachita National Forest, shows a pattern of high-altitude peaks and deep drainage basins like Long Hollow.
