North Knoll Spring serves as a vital water source in this arid portion of Millard County, situated near the intersection of several historic desert routes. The landscape is defined by the high, narrow spine of Plympton Ridge and the flat expanse of Rattlesnake Bench to the southeast. Transportation through this remote terrain is marked by the long diagonal of Foot Ranch Rd and the path of Old 6 & 50, tracing older highway alignments through the basin. Drainage features such as Red Gulch and Browns Wash indicate the seasonal flow of water across the desert floor. This 2020 survey provides an accurate view of the sparse infrastructure and natural landmarks used by ranchers and travelers in the Great Basin.
