Ojito Peak serves as the dominant landmark for this section of Costilla County, overseeing a complex network of high-altitude drainages and winding mountain roads. The rugged terrain is carved by Trinchera Cr and Ojito Cr, which descend through steep canyons towards the valley floor. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, Rito Seco flows past Big Meadow, providing a rare stretch of relatively level ground amidst the ridges.
