The Growler Mountains rise sharply in the southeast corner of this desert landscape, forming a natural barrier above the surrounding basin. In the lower elevations, the expansive Growler Valley and Childs Valley dominate the terrain, shaped by ephemeral watercourses such as Tenmile Wash in the northeast and Daniels Arroyo to the southwest. The small settlement of Okie Well serves as a lone point of habitation near the eastern edge of the quadrangle. This 2018 survey also delineates the jurisdictional boundary between Maricopa and Pima Counties, illustrating how political borders intersect with the remote desert geography of southern Arizona.
