About this map

Manlius and its surrounding rural hamlets define this landscape at the eastern edge of Onondaga County, where the terrain begins to drop into the deep glacial cuts of Pompey Hollow. The drainage of Limestone Creek and its West Branch carve through the plateau, creating a series of dramatic cataracts including Edwards Falls, Pratts Falls, and Brickyard Falls. This topography dictated the early settlement patterns and industrial potential of the area, as seen in the collection of small crossroads like Pompey Center, Oran, and Watervale.
