About this map

Blaine sits at the northern edge of this Aroostook County landscape, where the terrain is defined by a series of prominent ridges and water-rich lowlands. The topography rises significantly at Nineteen Mtn and Collins Ridge, giving way to the expansive Advent Swamp and the headwaters of numerous streams. Packard Lake and its neighboring Packard Hill anchor the eastern side of the sheet, surrounded by a network of rural routes such as Kinney Rd and No 9 Lake Rd. The drainage pattern is complex, with the North Branch Meduxnekeag River and the North Branch Whitney Brook carving through the timbered elevations. This layout reflects the classic North Woods transition from upland ridges like Chandler Ridge to the boggy basins that feed the region's river systems.
