About this map

The confluence of the Chicopee River, Swift River, and Ware River forms the industrial and geographic core of this late-1960s study. The settlement of Three Rivers sits at this major junction, while nearby Thorndike and Bondsville developed along the water power of the Ware. These villages were tightly linked by a dense network of competing rail lines, including the Central Vermont Railroad, Boston and Maine Railroad, and the Penn Central.
