Patillas anchors the southeastern corner of this study, positioned near where the Rio Patillas flows toward the coast. The landscape is dominated by the high-elevation peaks of the Sierra de Cayey, including Cerro La Santa and Cerro Honoré, which overlook a complex network of steep ridges and deep valleys. Two major reservoirs, Lago Carite in the northwest and Lago Patillas in the south, illustrate the mid-20th-century water management infrastructure designed to support the region's agricultural and municipal needs.
