Hiawatha National Forest dominates this coastal landscape along the southern edge of Whitefish Bay. The terrain is defined by a series of drainages flowing north toward Lake Superior, including Pendills Creek, Grant Cr, and Ladd Cr. These waterways create a complex hydrology of coastal wetlands and inland basins, such as Pendills Lake and the smaller Avery Lake.
