Petes Mountain and McClellan Mountain dominate this high-desert landscape in eastern Oregon, situated along the county line dividing Harney and Malheur counties. The winding North Fork Malheur River carves through the eastern portion of the sheet, feeding into the Juntura Valley and supporting a series of man-made irrigation features like a Ditch and a Flume. The land is defined by its water sources, with numerous named springs such as Moonshine Spring, Scab Spring, and Chitsey Spring providing critical water points across the arid Sagebrush Flat. Industrial activity is evident in the north near an Open Pit Mine and Mine Dump, while local landmarks like China Rock and the Chukar Park camping area highlight the geography's varied use. Primitive travel is marked by the Kingsbury route and numerous 4WD tracks that connect isolated corrals and resource sites across the gulches.
