Fall River flows eastward across the center of this Deschutes County landscape, cascading over Fall River Falls before joining the northward-winding Deschutes River. This 2011 survey captures a mix of public conservation and private holdings, including the Fall River Fish Hatchery and the residential-oriented Fall River Lodge. The terrain is defined by several prominent volcanic features such as Pistol Butte, Wake Butte, and Sitkum Butte, which rise above a network of forest roads and trails like the Wake Butte Trailhead.
